hello!
Hi! My name is Angela, I'm a professional photographer working in the NY Metro region. Born and raised in southern Maryland, I’ve been living and working in New York for 15 years. I got my start in photography when my mom surprised me with a camera in high school. Then in college, I learned the good old fashioned way — in the darkroom.
Early on, I learned I enjoy merging photography with my other personal interests. In college, that meant documenting small sweaty punk shows on my film camera. After graduating, I packed up my social psychology degree and moved out west to Park City, UT to primarily play in the snow. I was a liftie by day and I spent my afternoons in the snowboard park and on the edge of the pipe, somewhat accidentally photographing athletes like Shawn White and other future Olympians.
Realizing it was time to get serious about a career and my future, I moved to Brooklyn and took a full time photo position with Madison Square Garden in 2008. After six years working my way up to Director Photo Services for MSG, in 2013 I made a very personal decision to transition to freelance to be able to spend more time with my family.
When I’m not behind the camera you can probably find me on my cargo bike with my kids, in the woods hiking, or if I can find snow, carving an edge. Thanks for checking out my work, hope you enjoy clicking around. Even better, send me a note, I’d love to hear from you!
Angela
